What Is Restylane® Silk?
The first ever FDA approved filler specifically designed for the lips, Restylane® Silk is able to enhance and add volume, as well as fill in lines around the lips that may have developed due to smoking or the aging process. Restylane® products are composed of clear gel that is made up of hyaluronic acid, which your body produces naturally. The delicate consistency of the product allows it to create an extremely natural look where volume is restored to the lips in such a way that doesn’t make it look like they’ve had anything done to their lips at all. How Long Does Restylane® Silk Last?
Based on clinical trials, Restylane® Silk has the potential to last up to six months. Sixty percent of patients still had their full, natural-looking lips six months after having it injected.

What Should I Expect With Treatment?
After an initial consultation to discuss whether Restylane® Silk will be the ideal treatment to achieve the look you desire, one of our plastic surgeons will numb your lips with a topical anesthetic to prep them for treatment. They will use an extremely fine needle to artistically deliver Restylane® Silk to your lips and surrounding wrinkles. Depending on each patient’s needs, the entire process may take 20 to 30 minutes. An ice pack will be given to you once the treatment is complete. This will help reduce any swelling that may occur.
To ensure that your results are both natural and beautiful, our doctors take a conservative approach and uses only a small amount of Restylane® Silk during your first treatment. Once you have purchased a syringe of Restylane® Silk, you may return to the office as you wish for additional treatments and it won’t be necessary to make additional payments while there is still remaining Restylane® Silk in the syringe you purchased.
It is normal, and to be expected, that you experience swelling, bruising, and redness around your lips after the injection. This will subside in a few days.
For one week before coming in for your treatment, it is essential to avoid anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen and aspirin. Additionally, supplements such as Vitamin E and Saint John’s Wart must also be avoided because these supplements and drugs thin the blood, which can cause excessive bleeding or bruising post treatment.

What Can I Expect During Recovery from Restylane® Silk Injections?
There is no downtime with this treatment, and you can resume normal activities, such as work and other responsibilities right away. It is common to experience slight discomfort and bruising, but this will subside in a few short days. You can use makeup to cover any redness or bruising. Cold compresses work well and are recommended to reduce swelling. Arnica Montana can also be applied to boost the healing process.
