Our trusted reputation has been built on our promise to provide expert treatment in a compassionate, friendly environment.

At Parkcrest Plastic Surgery, Restylane® injections have gained popularity as a non-surgical  injection treatment. Restylane® injections represent an excellent way to tackle the following concerns:

  • nose to mouth lines (the nasolabial folds)
  • between the eyebrows (the glabellar lines)
  • lips (adding volume and shape)
  • cheeks and chin (shaping and contouring)
  • back of the hands, décolletage, face, neck (skin rejuvenation)

What Are Restylane® Injections and How Are They Performed?

Restylane® is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Tiny quantities of hyaluronic acid are injected through very fine needles, boosting the skin’s own hyaluronic acid, which plumps up the treated skin. Restylane® injections are very popular as the effects are immediately visible.

Restylane® injections take around 15 to 30 minutes to administer. Restylane® is injected into the dermis with a very fine needle, just a few millimeters beneath the surface of the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is hydrophilic or “water loving.” As hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each molecule binds to more water and over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. This ability of hyaluronic acid to bind to water is what helps provide long-lasting results. Restylane® injections are usually painless although an anesthetic cream or anesthetic block may sometimes be used for your comfort.

Treatments are typically scheduled twice a year. Having a follow-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated may enhance the lasting effect.

Restylane® may be suitable for people who want to improve their facial appearance but do not want the cost, risk, or downtime associated with invasive cosmetic surgery.

Restylane® Injections Recovery and Healing

Restylane® aftercare is simple and does not generally interfere with the daily routines of patients. Patients should avoid over exposure to heat and sunlight since they might increase swelling and bruising at the injection site.
Normal activities after Restylane® can usually be resumed immediately, and discomfort is minimal. The treatment site may be a little swollen, which may last a few hours. Initial swelling and tenderness may occur within the first several days but subsides after two or three days. Our doctors advise their patients to avoid flexing their facial muscles in the area of treatment. Stretching your muscles can disturb the Restylane® gel. For the first 24 hours after treatment, it is best to avoid sudden movements in the enhanced area.

You may need to return to Parkcrest Plastic Surgery in two to three weeks so that the results can be checked and touched up with more Restylane® injections if necessary. After that, you should not need to return for around six to nine months.
