What Is Juvederm®?

With great reviews driving its popularity, Juvederm® is an injectable dermal filler developed from a substance that already occurs in your body: hyaluronic acid. This acid creates a more youthful-looking face and a more attractive appearance by putting back the volume normally associated with youth. It also treats many other problem areas to produce results that can last up to a year, which is why more people request this injectable treatment more often than any other.

Benefits of Juvederm®

Juvederm® grants the following benefits:

  • Improvements with skin contour
  • Increases in cheek volume
  • Duration of up to one year
  • More youthful facial appearance
  • Smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles

How Is Juvederm® Administered?

Juvederm® injections take around 15 to 30 minutes to administer. The hyaluronic acid filler is injected into the dermis with a very fine needle, just a few millimeters beneath the surface of the skin. The hyaluronic acid molecules naturally draw in water and cause the tissue beneath the lines and wrinkles to swell. This process fills out the wrinkles and gives the skin a smoother surface. The process is usually painless although an anesthetic cream or anesthetic block may sometimes be used for your comfort.

The effects can be maintained by small “touch-up” treatments as required about twice a year. At Parkcrest Plastic Surgery, Juvederm® injections are safe, non-invasive and give great long-lasting results.

Preparing for a Juvederm® Treatment

Knowing all you can about a procedure is an important part of preparing for it. Be sure to inform our doctors about any prescription medications you may be taking because they may advise you to stop taking them just before you receive treatment. Certain medications may cause adverse side effects or prevent the treatment from working effectively if you take them at the same time. For example, you need to stop taking anti-inflammatories at least one week before the procedure to help minimize the risk of bruising and bleeding at the point of injection.

Patient Reviews

“Dr. McGuire and everyone I’ve met at Parkcrest are some of the sweetest and most genuinely caring physicians I’ve ever worked with. My top surgery results are everything I hoped for and beyond. Healing has been a breeze and I credit it completely to how wonderfully thorough and attentive their team is. Cannot possibly thank + recommend them enough, especially if you’re looking for gender affirming surgery.” - Bella P.

Juvederm® Recovery

Depending on the area treated and which filler is used, treatment times can vary from around 15 minutes to an hour, and recovery time can be from a few hours to a few days. Most people can return to work straight away after treatment with Juvederm®.

Normal activities after Juvederm® can usually be resumed immediately, and discomfort is minimal. The treatment site may be a little swollen, which may last a few hours. There may be some slight bruising which can be covered with make-up. If the lips have been treated, initial swelling and tenderness may occur within the first several days but subsides after two or three days.

You may need to return to Parkcrest Plastic Surgery in two to three weeks so that the results can be checked and touched up with more Juvederm® injections if necessary. After that, you should not need to return for additional Juvederm® injections for around six to nine months.

How Much Does Juvederm® Cost?

MedSpa procedures such as Juvederm® are considered elective treatments by insurance companies, so they are typically not covered by policies. To make Juvederm® more accessible to more patients, Parkcrest Plastic Surgery offers financing. We also accept cash, major credit cards, or a personal check.

Is Juvederm® Right for Me?

If you’re interested in looking younger, improving cheeks that sag or are flattened, and eliminating wrinkles, and lines, Juvederm® treatments may be exactly what you desire. Juvederm® treatments may be suitable for people who want to improve their facial appearance but do not want the cost, risk, or downtime associated with invasive cosmetic surgery.

What to Expect During Your Juvederm® Consultation

You will be asked about your medical history, what you want from skin rejuvenation, and what results you expect the procedure to deliver. Our doctor will then tailor your treatment specifically for your needs.
